Massey Wedding | Cannon Beach, OR | Wedding DJ
The weather forecast did not look good for this weekend but with a little bit of luck, Kevin and Trena were able to tie the knot in front of Haystack Rock on Cannon Beach. We had just enough rain to make it lucky, but not enough to dampen anyone’s spirits 🙂 Kevin & Trena were two of the kindest most gracious clients we’ve met here in Portland and it was a pleasure helping them pull off this somewhat “dangerous” flirting with the weather. After the ceremony on the beach, everyone headed over to the Cannon Beach Community Hall for food, drinks, and dancing. It was an intimate affair but everyone there stuck around until the end of the night and danced right on through the evening. And luckily, the storm waiting until just after everyone was packed up to sweep in and give the coast some much needed rain.
DJ Thoughts
There was no power on the beach but we provided a portable “ION Block Rocker” to play some ceremony music and run a wired microphone for the officiant. This thing actually packs quite a bit of sound into such a small enclosure. You can pick it up at Costco right now for around $119 and I would recommend it for any wedding DJ. It’s much easier than carrying around a generator for those small ceremonies off the beaten path. Our other recent purchase was the “Gig Bar” by Chauvet. This little light tree was the best dance floor lighting purchase we’ve ever made. It reduces my lighting setup time down to about 3 minutes… literally. It comes with a nice looking molded case to protect the lights and a carrying case for the 9′ stand. It easily covers a large room with LED effects, Lasers, and strobe lighting (if wanted).
Pictures and Video
I was able to capture some moments throughout the evening on my iPhone, but I’ll post the professional pictures by JL Christ Photography as soon as they’re ready!
